Product Description

Selank is a synthetic peptide that was developed in Russia and possesses nootropic and anxiolytic properties. It is an analogue of Tuftsin, a naturally occurring immunomodulatory peptide that affects T helper cells, monoamine, IL-6, neurotransmitters, and brain-derived neurotropic factor (BDNF). Although Selank and Tuftsin are similar, Selank has four additional amino acids that enhance its metabolic stability and prolong its half-life.

Selank has been studied in clinical trials as a potential treatment for generalized anxiety disorder. According to Dr. Anastasiya Volkova from the Institute of Molecular Genetics in Russia, "Numerous clinical studies have demonstrated that Selank has potent anti-anxiety and neuroprotective effects, comparable to those of benzodiazepines, which are allosteric modulators of GABAA receptors and enhance GABA's inhibitory actions." Selank is known to reduce anxiety, improve mood, lower stress levels, and enhance memory and learning. Although low doses of Selank can be sedating, unlike benzodiazepines, Selank is not addictive and does not produce withdrawal symptoms or amnesia.

Selank may help to reduce the breakdown of natural enkephalins by inhibiting enzymes that break them down. Enkephalins are natural peptides that bind to opioid receptors, reducing the severity of pain and contributing to the stress response in humans. High levels of enkephalins are found in the adrenal glands and brain. Selank may help to reduce levels of enkephalins in the brain, blunting the stress response and its impact on memory, learning, and concentration.

Storage Guidelines

All products are produced using lyophilization (freeze-drying), a preservation method that allows peptides to remain fully stable during shipping for approximately 3-4 months. Once a peptide has been reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, it must be refrigerated to maintain integrity. After reconstitution, peptides typically remain stable for up to 30 days when stored properly.

Lyophilization, also referred to as cryodesiccation, is a specialized dehydration process in which peptides are first frozen and then exposed to a low-pressure environment. This causes the water within the vial to transition directly from a solid to a vapor (sublimation), leaving behind a dry, crystalline white material known as a lyophilized peptide. In this powdered form, peptides may be safely stored at room temperature until they are ready to be reconstituted with bacteriostatic water.

After delivery, peptides should be protected from heat and light. If use is expected within the near future (whether days, weeks, or a few months) refrigerated storage below 4°C (39°F) is generally sufficient. Lyophilized peptides are commonly stable at room temperature for several weeks or longer, making short-term ambient storage acceptable when use is anticipated within that timeframe.

For extended storage, ranging from several months to multiple years, freezing is strongly recommended. Storage at -80°C (-112°F) offers optimal long-term stability and helps preserve peptide structure and quality over time.

More about Selank (5mg)

Selank is a research-grade synthetic heptapeptide investigated in neuroimmune modulation and behavioral neuroscience models. Developed as an analogue of the endogenous tetrapeptide tuftsin, Selank extends the parent motif with a C-terminal Pro-Gly-Pro fragment to improve stability in experimental settings. In contemporary research literature, Selank is commonly discussed in the context of stress-response signaling, monoamine regulation, and biomarker-driven study designs that evaluate cognition-adjacent and anxiety-adjacent endpoints.

In practical research environments, Selank is often positioned within broader neurocognitive and behavioral pipelines where investigators need to distinguish stress interference from direct task performance, engagement, or adaptation effects. Laboratories structuring those programs may also review Nordsci resources on peptide storage and stability best practices, stack-based behavioral research frameworks, and stack-focused protocol libraries when organizing multi-arm study design.

What Is Selank? Research Background and Mechanism

Selank is positioned in the literature as a tuftsin-derived peptide designed to retain immunomodulatory signaling characteristics while expanding investigational relevance to neurochemical pathways. In preclinical work, Selank has been associated with changes in monoamine metabolism and cytokine-linked signaling, and it has also been studied in models evaluating neurotrophin-related expression patterns such as brain-derived neurotrophic factor. These themes make Selank a recurring tool compound in neuroimmune research programs that need a peptide-based variable with both immune-adjacent and brain-adjacent relevance.

In research practice, Selank is often discussed alongside other neurocognitive compounds when teams design comparative arms for cognition, motivation, or stress gating. In those designs, Selank can be included to probe whether anxiety-like behavior changes confound task performance, engagement, habituation, or behavioral consistency. Nordsci’s broader educational content on stress and resilience research models also aligns well with that style of structured endpoint planning.

Important Research Notice: Nordsci peptides are supported by independent third-party analytical testing to validate identity and purity via HPLC and mass spectrometry. A Certificate of Analysis is available for each lot to help laboratories align with internal quality management and documentation requirements.

Selank Peptide Research: Key Laboratory Applications

1. Stress Gating and Behavioral Paradigms

In research discussions, Selank is frequently positioned as a variable within anxiety-like behavior paradigms and stress-response gating models. These may include exploration and avoidance behavior, novelty response, task engagement metrics, and other standardized readouts in controlled environments. The core objective is usually not a performance claim, but a cleaner interpretation of whether an observed change reflects cognition itself or a reduction in stress interference that suppresses engagement and learning.

This distinction is operationally important in multi-factor protocols because behavioral outputs can shift for multiple reasons at once. Selank is therefore useful in studies where researchers want tighter attribution of signal source rather than broad interpretive assumptions.

2. Neuroimmune Signaling and Cytokine-Adjacent Investigation

Selank’s tuftsin-analogue framing keeps it relevant to neuroimmune study designs. In that context, research teams may include immune panels and inflammatory marker tracking as secondary endpoints to map correlations between immune signaling shifts and behavioral outputs. In multi-factor designs, Selank can serve as a peptide input to explore whether immune modulation coincides with measurable behavioral or neurochemical changes.

3. Neurotrophin and Plasticity-Linked Endpoints

Selank has been discussed in connection with BDNF-related expression patterns in rodent models, making it a candidate variable in experiments that track plasticity-linked biomarkers alongside functional outcomes. These studies often integrate time-locked sampling windows and region-specific collection strategies to reduce interpretive noise and strengthen dataset quality.

4. Stack-Based Cognitive Research Design

In stack-based frameworks, Selank is sometimes paired with compounds that lean more directly into alertness, motivation, or learning signals and then balanced with cellular-support variables. That approach can improve study interpretability by separating capability from willingness to engage, which is a critical distinction in many neurobehavioral and adaptation-focused models.

For research teams running broader multi-variable programs, the real operational advantage of Selank is often not just its mechanistic profile, but its utility as a cleaner control variable inside more complex behavioral systems. That is where standardized sourcing, labeling, and lot documentation become especially important.

Selank Research Protocol and Reconstitution

Reconstitution Guidelines for Laboratory Use:

For laboratory work, each 5mg vial is commonly reconstituted with an appropriate sterile diluent, often bacteriostatic water in controlled environments, to achieve the desired stock concentration. Final concentration, exposure route, and schedule should be determined by the research team based on model design, assay constraints, and institutional approvals.

Protocol Design Considerations: Selank is frequently referenced in both intranasal and parenteral research discussions in public literature. Researchers should anchor any experimental framework to peer-reviewed sources, internal SOPs, and applicable ethics approvals. Stability discipline, including aliquoting, minimizing freeze–thaw cycles, light protection, and labeling, is a material variable in peptide studies.

Note: The information above is provided as a high-level research reference only. All experimental use must be conducted by qualified personnel in appropriately equipped facilities, following applicable regulations and institutional policies.

Selank Certificate of Analysis (COA) – Lab Testing

Each lot of Selank is supported by a Certificate of Analysis documenting peptide identity, purity, and analytical methods including HPLC, mass spectrometry, and related assays where applicable. COA documentation can be obtained for protocol files, internal quality audits, and procurement traceability.
