MK-677 is a long-acting, ghrelin receptor agonist and HGH stimulator. It is also known as Ibutamoren, MK-677, 191, L-163, and formerly known as Oratrope.
In one study published in Endocrinology, eight beagles were given 0.25mg/kg of MK-677 and their GH levels increased 5.3 times over the baseline (15.8). When they increased the dose to 0.5mg/kg, the GH levels increased 9 times over the baseline rates. When the dose was further increased to 1 mg/kg, the GH levels increased by almost 16 times of the baseline. It’s important to note that these doses were oral vs. injection.
Furthermore, after eight hours the insulin-like growth factor remained elevated by 30% and GH was elevated for up to six hours, indicating MK-677 is a long-acting compound in beagles. Cortisol was also elevated, however it was modest compared to the elevation of the GH levels.
MK-677 is also an orally active gherkin receptor agonist which stimulates food intake, GH secretion, and regulates reward signaling.
In addition to hunger signaling, MK-677 modulates stress, glucose, body weight, cognition, gut motility, hunger, adiposity, and even pain.
In a study published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences, MK-677 has also been shown to increase neural activity and reduce the death of neurons and neuroinflammation.
